Our Story

In the year 2000, we decided to open a little restaurant in an even littler town of Bolton, Ontario. We started with only 29 seats but a clear vision of what we wanted to bring to our little town. Jeff worked for various restaurants with different food styles for years, but his experience with Italian food was the strongest. So with the “Tomato” established, we needed only figure out why it was going to be “Angry.” That inspiration came one day when Chef Jeff was watching one of his favourite TV Chef personalities making a particular Shrimp dish when “BAM” it hit him that so many Cajun/Creole dishes had similar ingredients and would pair well with pasta and pizza and from that The Angry Tomato was off and running.

In the 15 years the restaurant was operating, The Angry Tomato was always committed to bringing new and exciting dishes and flavours to its customers. The menu had a mix of standard Italian comfort classics and authentic Louisiana-style dishes, but our fusion dishes were always the most popular. Who knew that adding Cajun-style blackened chicken to penne Alfredo would become our most popular dish and have people lining up for over an hour to get some! So we continued to bring in new flavours with seasonal menus, allowing us to try new flavours. The most popular was always our Mardi Gras menu that brought soon-to-be top sellers like monkfish, crawdads and even alligator. We are not sure what surprised our suppliers more, that we asked them for alligator or that we sold 20 pounds in a week!

Although the restaurant is no longer open and our loyal customers and dedicated staff have spread out over the country, The Angry Tomato is still looking for new and exciting ways to reach out to our followers and hopefully make some new ones along the way. Chef Jeff and his wife & partner Bobbie, will be dedicated to offering new products, great food ideas and instructional videos to help you bring a taste of The Angry Tomato home. So keep following and “Keep It Spicy.”
